Planet B is the planet on which the Aurora and the Degasi crash-landed, and is where the story of Subnautica takes place. The Planet was set up as a research outpost by the Precursor Race meant to study a bacterium called the Kharaa Bacterium. The Kharaa Bacterium is a highly infectious alien bacterium discovered by the Precursors during the exploration of another world, and set up research outposts on planets to find a cure. Planet B is located in the outer reaches of the Ariadne Arm, orbiting around the star There are three known major ecosystems on the planet; the the crater, the the Arctic, and the Void a. The latter of which covers the majority of the planet. The known planet is almost completely covered in water, except for a few islands, and features a variety of submerged biomes.

Planet B is a category-3 ocean planet on which the story of Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero take place. To enter the End Game and finish building Al-An's body, we'll need to find the Fabricator Caverns , which are located near and below the Crystal Caves. The Crater is the area in which the main story of Subnautica takes place. The area is the crater of a huge, long-dormant undersea volcano approximately three kilometers in height and varies from 3. After the volcano became dormant the crater was filled in by sediments and the once volatile volcano became the center of a diverse and thriving ecosystem. The area is likely a guyot ; a type of undersea volcanic formation that once protruded above the surface and has now been eroded into a tabletop below the ocean's surface. The area around the volcano is known as the dead zone or crater edge. It is a vast expanse of featureless water inhabited only by plankton and their planktivorous Leviathan class predators.
