This study, which is aimed at analysing the living universal l values transfer in secondary school Turkish textbooks, was formed by qualitative research methodology and designed by document review. A purposeful sampling method was used to determine the study group of the research. With this method, reading texts and poems in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade Turkish textbooks published in the academic year of were analysed. The data were analysed through descriptive analysis. As a result of the research, the most used values in secondary school Turkish textbooks were determined as; aesthetics, love, kindness and diligence; and the least used values were determined as; peace, simplicity, modesty and tolerance. Additionally, it has been found that the value transfer was carried out quantitatively and intensively in the analysed Turkish textbooks, but that the themes and values in the textbooks were not completely consistent with the grade levels of the textbooks, that some values were not addressed at all and there was no systematic structure in the distribution of values across the grades or the themes.

In order for a community to continue one's existence, it is necessary to instill the basic values to its children. This instillation can be accompanied by a teacher in a school environment, or in a child's out-of-school working environment, even unconsciously while working with a book. Therefore, the values in the textbooks gain importance. In this research, it is aimed to examine the 5th grade mathematics textbook in terms of values in mathematics teaching program. These values are justice, friendship, honesty, self-control, patience, respect, love, responsibility, patriotism and helpfulness. Qualitative research method was adopted in the study and data were collected by document analysis. Descriptive analysis technique was used to analyze the data. According to the results, the most frequently mentioned values are self-control, fairness, helpfulness and responsibility, and the least mentioned are values of friendship, honesty, patriotism, respect and love. In order to text books being one of the most important materials of education process are transformed to ideal text books, examining text books in terms of some features also plays a part among things to do. The aim of this research is to investigate Social Studies text book prepared in accordance with new curriculum in — education year for 5th grades students in the sense of physical, educational, visual design, language and manner of telling features. In this research, document review and content analysis being from quantitative research methods are used. In consequence of research conducted, it is clear that new Social Studies text book for 5th grade students is different from previous text books with regards to physical, visual and educational features.
