A nine-year-old girl has lost her life after being hit by a car in Melbourne's south-west in what police describe as a traumatic scene considering the "age and vulnerability" of the victim. The incident occurred just after 9pm in the suburb of Werribee where it is believed a car hit a nine-year-old girl who had been walking along Shaws Road. First responders were called to the site of collision and attempted to resuscitate the girl through emergency intervention, along with the assistance of civilians who were in the area at the time, but the efforts were unsuccessful. Following the crash, she reportedly stopped at the site and has since been assisting police with their enquiries. Police have confirmed detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are working to establish the exact circumstances of the collision. The death of the nine-year-old girl has marked the st life lost on Victorian roads in alone.
