Aiono released his first single on a major label with Interscope Records, "Work the Middle", in February As of , he has over six million YouTube subscribers and more than 1 billion views on his YouTube videos. Aiono released his debut single "Doesn't Get Better" on March 15, Aiono has cited John Legend as one of his biggest influences and has written two songs with the singer. In , Aiono began creating "flipped" versions of popular songs, including a mashup of Drake 's " One Dance " and Nicky Jam 's " Hasta el Amanecer " that received more than 67 million views on YouTube. On January 27, , Aiono released his single "Work the Middle". Aiono and his family, originally from Phoenix, Arizona , moved to Los Angeles, California so he could pursue a music career at 14 years old. Now 24, the Phoenix-born, Los Angeles-based talent is well on his way to meeting those goals. And sonically, it just came out heavily influenced by gospel music and me telling my story. You know, I think trailblazers in front of me made it so much easier. It felt authentic. We got piano tracks in Las Vegas — and all these [little things] felt larger than life. My debut album feels just as good as I imagined it when I was 13 years old, living with my family in Arizona, dreaming of this day. That was literally the goal.
