While in How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World , Toothless is given a new tail fin that looks closely like a real fin, so he could fly and approach the Light Fury with easy, as Hiccup's presence has chased the wild dragon away a few times. To make it fireproof and to truly look like a real tail fin, Hiccup coated it in Toothless' shed scales that were make into a paint-like substance. In certain parts of the Hidden World even thuogh it has only been shown in a few renders of the night fury and not in the third film itself , Toothless' dark scales luminate in a blue, sparkling-like glow that cover the dragon in markings that look a bit like stripes in a glowing pattern; along with some small glowing "specs".
