The victim has been named as Siva Auvae, who had recently moved to the city with her family from NSW. Police said she was attacked by her long-term partner Anaru Ormond, who died in hospital after being found badly burned. He had tried to burn down their house after attacking Auvae. Auvae had been repeatedly stabbed, police said, with neighbours finding her and calling emergency services. Queensland Police Service Detective Inspector David Harbison told 9News there were no current domestic violence orders in either state related to the couple.
