There are eight races in Daggerfall , each of which hails from a particular province within Tamriel. There are actually nine provinces in Tamriel; however, no specific race is associated with the Imperial Province. The Imperial race was not conceived until Redguard. In addition, Orcs were not considered to be a proper race until Morrowind ; in Daggerfall , they are treated as humanoid creatures. When you are creating your character , you will be asked to select one of eight provinces, which will determine your race. Note that the only gameplay effect of choosing a race - regardless of whether a custom or predefined class is chosen, and regardless of the character's selected gender - will be each race's "Special Advantage" as listed below.

This article is about the race. For the month, see Sun's Dusk. Argonians Saxhleel , or People of the Root [1] [2] in their native language of Jel are the reptilian natives of Black Marsh , a vast swampland province in southeastern Tamriel. The other races often refer to them as lizards or the Lizard Folk instead, especially when meaning to be derogatory. They are known as the foremost experts in guerrilla warfare throughout Tamriel, a reputation brought upon them by defending their borders from enemies for countless centuries.

This is a list of all the known Argonian names , compiled from the games. Generally Argonians utilize two types of names from different languages: Jel and Tamrielic. On that day, a young Saxhleel licks the Hist Sap and receives their name. Most likely this name is what they reference to outsiders as their "Black Marsh name". Obtaining a Tamrielic name for an Argonian may vary between individuals. Sometimes, the Tamrielic name is a direct translation of their Jel name. Single-word : Sissithik , Yelnicin Hyp.
