Crop plots must be placed under a greenhouse ceiling to receive the bonus. The greenhouse ceiling must receive unobstructed sunlight. The only way to test unobstructed sunlight is to see if you can fill your water jar when standing there during rain. If so, you can use a greenhouse ceiling there. You can use greenhouse ceilings in place of foundations or floors and put crop plots on the ceilings. Crop plots on ceilings will only get the greenhouse boost if there is also a ceiling above them. So, if you use only ceilings, you could do 10 ceilings as floors, have stone walls 2 high is best so you can walk over the plots, 1 high will mean you need to crouch and then have 10 greenhouse ceilings above the original 10 ceilings.

Build 2 walls these do not have to be greenhouse , then build Greenhouse Ceilings over the entire area. Sloped or flat does not matter.
