Just wondering whether you guys here on this forum have any idea where I can get the freshest asian vegetables from as well as other asian food products and fruits. My nearest Asian grocer is Fyshwick which seems to specialise in packaged food. Any ideas where I can find fresh veggies? I liked shopping at the Hub as its range was much wider than other smaller Asian groceries. They also stocked other Asian cuisines, such as Filipino, that other Asian grocers dont. The fresh pork buns were excellent also. I hope the stores, or at least one of them, are sold as a going concern. In fact the Hub is a lot cheaper than the other Asian grocery markets, well at least for food items that i always buy.

Can anybody recommend a place to get a decent carbon steel wok from in Canberra? Fairly lightweight, round-bottomed, but sturdy? None of your Jamie Oliver non-stick junk, just a proper wok to season and then abuse at high temps? Depending on which Asian grocer you go to, the fresh stuff usually comes in to the store twice a week, for most of them it is Tuesday and Friday night…. They have some great seafood in the freezer and a good range of noodles. I recommend the fish shaped vanilla one.
