Kids and adults who have always wondered what would happen if Marvel comic book heroes Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk and Captain America got together to kick butt finally get their dream come true with this terrific blockbuster movie. The performances are great, too, with Ruffalo a stand-out as the sweet Banner who turns into a jaw-dropping Hulk thanks to motion-capture animation, Downey Jr bringing many of the laughs, Sam Jackson finally getting something to do as the man who has — perhaps unwisely — brought all these heroes together, and Clark Gregg as S. D Agent Coulson bringing real heart to his increased role. Meanwhile, Hiddleston matches each goodie scene for scene as the Asgardian bad guy with more than a few tricks up his sleeve. This has less violence than a Transformers movie but is classified a 12A certificate for the action sequences and a tiny bit of swearing.

Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor and Black Widow must work together as a team to stop the evil forces who now have the power to destroy the planet. We have seen all of these characters before in their respective movies although Black Widow had only previously become a character in Iron Man 2 and Hawkeye had only a minor role in Thor and what could have become a clumsy battle of the egos is a brilliant example of writing for an ensemble cast. The characters complement each other perfectly without losing the essence of what made them special in their previous movies. The story moves at a good pace and each character has good dialogue and plenty of screen time.

My main objection for kids is a graphic reference to suicide, a couple of violent descriptions that are quite adult and a graphic inference of Loki gouging someones eye. Tony Stark is a good role model at least thru the first two episodes to the point that he sacrificed himself. Did we miss something on diversity? Enjoyable for adults and children over 6 or 7. Most evident is the role some of their larger-than-life egos play in their struggles with working alongside each other after a hiatus that saw most of them flying solo and calling their own shots.
