Skins are in-game cosmetics for ships that can be purchased through Akashi's Shop using Gems or unlocked through in-game events. When equipped, skins alter a ship's CG painting and chibi. Sometimes, a skin can alter a ship's voice lines as well and come with new facial expressions. These differences overall are purely cosmetic and do not affect gameplay. Skins for a ship can be changed in the Dockyard menu. Select a ship from your Dockyard and click on the "Skin" button in their individual interface, below their list of stats. All available skins for a ship will appear in their skin menu after pressing "Skin", with the exception of Retrofit skins, which will appear only after you retrofit a ship. Retrofit skins are skins that you can only obtain for ships with an available Retrofit. These skins are hidden by default in the skin menu and will only show after you fully retrofit a ship.

Affinity is a value used to determine a ship's affection towards you. Stat bonuses may be gained the higher the ship's affinity is. By tapping on the affinity icon, by clicking "stats", using sorting options in the docks or opening the fleet in certain places like the Dorm or Secretary screen it is possible to check a shipgirl's exact affinity value.
