That was the motive to rewatch the Baratie Arc to reminisce the first years of our favorite show. A few episodes later we were both crying as we fully understood what Eiichiro Oda tried to say behind this multileveled story.
The arc begins with the Straw Hats Monkey D. Luffy , Roronoa Zoro , Nami , and the newly-joined Usopp checking out their new pirate ship as well as designing a Jolly Roger for it. However, unbeknownst to them, two pirate hunters happen to be on the rock, and one of them attacks the ship in retaliation. Luffy fights him, but Zoro points him out to be a friend of his. After the Straw Hats apologize and Nami cures Yosaku of his scurvy, the crew realizes that they are going to need a cook for the ship to maintain the healthy quality of their food stores before they can go to the Grand Line. To repay the favor for helping them, Johnny and Yosaku tell the crew of a floating restaurant in the middle of the ocean where they might find a cook, and then help navigate the crew to said restaurant, the Baratie. Upon arrival, the group runs into trouble with a Marine Lieutenant, Fullbody.

The Baratie arc, which many hold in high regard, is no exception and went through several changes when being adapted into live action. While the live-action version of the Baratie arc is certainly very fun, it is also very different from the source material in many ways. The first major change that is apparent to every fan when it comes to the Baratie arc is the involvement of Don Krieg. Fans know Krieg to be an extremely important character, given that he is the main antagonist of the entire arc. In the source material, Krieg comes to Baratie to eat after his defeat in the Grand Line. Then, he decides to take over the ship and ends up being defeated by Luffy. Gin is a very important character in the Baratie arc when it comes to the manga. He is a member of the crew of Don Krieg and, after the defeat of the Krieg Pirates in the Grand Line, he comes to the Baratie to eat some food after being starved to a near-death condition.
However, their plans were brought to a halt when Krieg's galleon was suddenly sliced in half.
