A chibi base is a type of drawing template that can be used to create manga or anime-style characters. Chibi became popular because of its kawaii appearance. One of the most common ways to draw chibis is to use a chibi base. A chibi base is a simplified drawing of a chibi character that can be used as a starting point for creating your own chibi characters. It typically includes the basic shapes and proportions of a chibi character, such as a large head, small body, and big eyes. These bases can be used as a reference or a guide for creating your own chibi characters and can be modified and customized to suit your needs.

That is, you can adapt your own drawing styles, be it cartoon or any other, to create a Chibi. What makes a Chibi, a Chibi, is its proportion. It does not matter so much the style of eyes, or hair or how simplified or detailed it may be, but the proportion with which it is drawn. There are Chibis with 2, 3 or up to 4 heads. My recommendation is to go for the proportions of 2 and 3 heads for a "more Chibi" effect but it is at the end to consider your needs. It is personally one of my favorites, but it is not recommended to use it if you plan to draw a character with detailed clothes, unless you plan to simplify the design. Sometimes it can be a bit annoying having to draw the circles as a reference for the Chibi proportions, and that is why in case this step bothers you a bit like me, I recommend another technique that I use: lower limit.

Small and cute chibis are great for illustrations or for printing on keyrings and other accessories.
