Enlisting help from friends with muscles and big vehicles, Bearly Used Books has slowly been making its move from its current Seguin Street location, to the former Medical Associates building on James Street. Melissa Thomson has owned the Parry Sound treasure for a little more than a decade, purchasing the store from original owners John and Bonnie Beaucage who started the business 12 years prior. Thomson said she decided to move not only for the additional space — from 3, square feet to 10, square feet of which the store will occupy 6, — but also for the accessibility and the opportunity to own, instead of rent. You have to take in a much lower salary … because I put so much money back into the business. The store makes its money through the out-of-town customers, cottagers and tourists, those who make a pit-stop on their way through the area. Boaters read a lot.
