It doesn't put all of its eggs in one basket; instead, this pad performs decently in all areas. While all of our testers enjoyed using the Q-Core SLX, it lacked the wow factor that typically associates itself with award winners, but the strong performance throughout metrics does make big agnes q core a strong contender. The laminated quilt pattern creates a trough with large edges, which help keep you centered when squirming around in the middle of the night looking for the chocolate bars. While the four-plus inches of loft may seem excessive, it was an excellent barrier between our bodies and the ground, big agnes q core.

The Big agnes Isulated q-core deluxe is an excellent, warm and comfortable sleeping pad. Throughout the years I have used all kinds of sleeping pads in varying climates and terrain. In my early years of transitioning to ultralight I used the lightest possible sleeping pads I could find. What resulted was often a horrible nights sleep for me and in turn, a horrible days hike. While my body often got used to the bad sleeping pads, as far as comfort is concerned, a cold mat was never fun. It didn't matter how warm a sleeping bag I had, if my pad wasn't up to par, I would freeze. Over the years companies have brought out good UL pads - starting with Thermarest X-lite. Much warmer than previous lightweight mats, but not necessarily the most comfortable solution. The Big agnes Q-core deluxe is not exactly the lightest pad in the world, but it's in a segment that isn't exactly an optimal choice for ultralight hikers - the Glamping segment. Big, warm and very comfortable. These pads tend to weigh upwards of 2 kilos for such comfort, not to mention a 40L packing volume. The Big agnes Q-core deluxe weighs in at under a kilo and is simply the most comfortable sleeping mat I have ever slept on.
Pros Warm 5 R-Value, rated to 15 degrees Incredibly comfortable Raised side beams to cradle body and prevent roll-off. Q-Core firmly inflated and the Big A Pumphouse.
Tired of miserable, sleepless nights in the backcountry? Big Agnes claims that its Insulated Q-Core is the most comfortable pad on the planet. Is it? Because it is 3. The Q-Core features a quilted pattern of alternating vertical and horizontal baffles that provides even weight distribution and raised side beams to prevent rolling off the mat in the middle of the night. I have slept on it in temperatures ranging from 15 degrees to 75 degrees and on surfaces ranging from rocky, granite ground to plush grass.

Big Agnes tells us that the updated Insulated Q-Core SLX is essentially the same design as last year's pad — they've just changed the name and included an inflation sack. The previous model was also insulated; this year's model, however, has changed some of the internal organization of the insulation. The R-Value is 3. The model we tested, the "Petite" size, is no longer referred to as petite and is just denoted by its dimensions of 20" x 66". The latest model is shown below in green first image followed by the older model in yellow.

On a recent bikepacking trip around flagstaff, we were able to stuff the Q-Core SLX and our Western Mountaineering 30 degree sleeping bag into a small 5-liter bike seat pack. On the downside, compared to the other inflatable air pads, this pad is heavier than most of them. Cons High price. I've used this Big Agnes Q-Core sleeping pad in excess of 30 nights now. Pros Lightweight Durable Comfortable. Inflating the pad is interesting. It sits about inches tall, blows up relatively fast manually, works great in the back country where you can pack it in, pretty light and packs small. Tired of miserable, sleepless nights in the backcountry? Please share your experience. This has an inch more loft and a slightly warmer "R" rating. This is certainly not an ultralight pad but retains a respectable weight for the high level of comfort and seasonal versatility it offers.
The Q-Core SL rated the highest overall and balances impressive warmth to weight to size ratio.
Big Agnes Q-Core. It makes very little noise when you move around on it at night in comparison to the NeoAir which sounds like you are flopping around on a pile of plastic bags. While it wasn't the absolute most comfortable pad we tested, if we were testing purely for weight to comfort ratio this might be the grand champ. Is it? I love my Q-Core, this thing is more comfortable than my bed at home. Brand Big Agnes. Tired of miserable, sleepless nights in the backcountry? Filling past generations of this pad proved difficult as they didn't have a pump sack included. When properly inflated using the Pumphouse, I have found that it takes around pumps to fully inflate it. Other than this event, we haven't experienced any adverse events or leakage even after testing multiple versions of this pad.
