Every time I have I pass through a small city park has caught my attention. Back in October my family and I took a small side trip through Hico, Texas to eat at one of our favorite restaurants. As we were leaving, we passed through Glen Rose, and I decided my curiosity had to be satisfied. With less than an hour before sundown, my family and I, pulled over at Big Rocks Park, kicked off our shoes, rolled up our pants, and went to play in the shallow waters of the Paluxy River. Big Rocks Park gets its name from…you guessed it…some big rocks on the north bank of the Paluxy River. The large limestone rocks have been slowly rounded and carved by the power of the river leaving small valleys and cracks, and caves to play in. My daughter and I spent the better part of an hour climbing up, over, around, and sometimes through these rocks. Our favorite thing became jumping the shallow chasms between rocks.

A place that would calm and relax you, Big Rocks Park is the best place to visit to unwind yourself after a hectic week at work. Situated by the river in Glen Rose, this park places you right in the lap of nature. As the name suggests, the park has huge rocks where you can sit for hours together letting the tranquillity of the river water wash over you. The park also has a tot-lot including slides that keep the kids effectively occupied. You will see people enjoy a picnic in the sheltered area of the park.

We loved these giant-sized pebble rocks. It was fun to run around, climb, and get lost amongst these rocks. When we arrived, besides one other family, we had the rocks to ourselves. Great place for kids and adults to let out some energy. Most of the rocks are truly giant-sized so younger kids maybe 4 and under would be limited in climbing or safely being on top of the rocks.

Our family of five enjoyed this natural park very much. City Parks. Great place for kids and adults to let out some energy. My 11 year old granddaughter loved this place. Exactly what it says - Big Rocks. Open today at Not the best for little kids though. Situated by the river in Glen Rose, this park places you right in the lap of nature.
