The track will return you to the picnic area where you can cool off in the Gara River. In spring keep an eye out for the 3 families of Platypus that reside in the river. The grassy picnic area is set underneath river oaks on one of the loveliest stretches of the Styx River, where the water tumbles over rocks and boulders into large pools.

The varied plant communities of Oxley Wild Rivers National Park provide a home for over animal species, including the largest confirmed population of brush-tailed rock wallabies. Even though there are roughly 10, of this endangered species in the park, you'll have to keep your eyes open to catch a glimpse of their bushy tail. The park also boasts over bird species, including the majestic wedge-tailed eagle, peregrine falcon, square-tailed kite and sea eagle.
