Remember Me? Welcome to the ultimate BMW X3 community. Hi all, I've got a BMW X3 xDrive 30e, and the past few weeks, not sure what's changed, if I ever want to connect my phone to Carplay, I'm required to connect to the BMW Direct Wifi network, but this causes me to lose network signal, so I can't actually search for anything in Google Maps or stream anything from Spotify, so it's pointless. I tried removing my phone multiple times and re-adding, but no dice. Not sure why I can't just simply connect to Carplay with manually connecting to the Direct Wifi network anymore. It's really annoying.

It looks like the internet connection between the iphone and the car is not correct. So the cellphone will report "no internet data", the GPS will quickly lose its locking and will start showing current location miles away , if I request either Google maps or Apple Maps apps to get driving directions they will fail All these appears to be related to this lack of "internet data". Not sure if it is provider issue and not sure who the provider for ConnectedDrive is , or a communication protocol between the cell and the car, but the bottom line, CarPlay will work "locally", the GSM data is ok, the GPS of the vehicle itself is ok, all tests are "green", but Google Maps, Apple Maps and other browser functions will not work. The problem disappears with switching off the car. Is there any patch available to address this problem? Any other potential fix? Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. You need to change that around and not use the car wifi as an internet connection.

This is it, the daddy, the in-car infotainment system that really got things started. Yup, it's BMW iDrive. Early versions of BMW iDrive came in for some serious flack. And it's true BMW may have taken a leaf too many from Apple 's guide to interface simplification. With just a twiddly, clickable wheel and no shortcut keys, the first iteration of iDrive certainly came with a steep learning curve. Since then, several other alternatives to iDrive's wheel-based input have come along, including touchscreens, touchpads and Lexus's peculiar puck device.
