Books on Beechwood is an independent, locally owned, bookstore that reflects the interests of the surrounding neighbourhoods. The selections on literary fiction, biography, and history are particularly strong. The collection of several thousand books in the store is backed by the ability to order from a suppliers list of millions of volumes. We also sell greeting cards and a few CDs by artists from the neighbourhood. We are very involved in the community. We host special events such as book signings and we have our own two book clubs which you are welcome to join. We make special arrangements for schools, libraries, book clubs and other institutions. It was with very heavy hearts that we said goodbye this past week to our beloved friend, Di Bethune. She passed away peacefully in the early hours of Wednesday, March 13 and will be missed terribly. Di was a lifelong booklover, a passionate reader, and an irreplaceable member of our bookstore family. She was incredibly kind and caring, exhibiting a sharp, quick wit, often when you were least expecting it. She adored dogs and always delighted in visits from our canine customers, even following some human customers out onto the sidewalk so she could greet their four-legged companions with lots of love and a biscuit.
