It is located in the Great Plateau region of Hyrulein the large field south of the Temple of Time. It was known as the Woodcutter's Cabin in early builds of the game. The house has a covered stationary Torch outside which Link can light on fire in order to light his Torch so he can relight the outdoor Cooking Pot if it goes out.

After finding the four shrines, returning to the Old Man will get you the paraglider, an essential item to progress. The Old Man is at the top, admiring the view. Don't forget to check the rock next to him for some amber. At night, the Old Man will be sitting by the cooking pot outside. Otherwise he'll be wandering around, chopping down trees.

Two barricades of spiked-walls surround the cabin to make entry somewhat difficult, with various Yiga headstones and paraphernalia adorn the surrounding area. Upon approaching the front door, Link can peer through a hole in the middle of the door to see a Yiga Footsoldier and Yiga Blademaster waiting inside. Once answering the door, the two Yiga ninjas are startled by Link's sudden arrival. Both will teleport outside of the cabin and fight Link.

The log cabin serves as a home for the Old Man , who can be found during the daytime, chopping wood. If Link climbs on top of the house, he will find a Korok at the front of the house, near the floating Korok flower pedals. The diary outlines the Old Man's perfect dish, the Spicy Meat and Seafood Fry , a recipe that not only restores health, but also keeps the body warm, enable safe travel to the snow mountains. Unfortunately, the Old Man has forgotten one of the three items of the recipe and makes the offer that if somebody knew the missing ingredient, he would award that person with the Warm Doublet. The cabin becomes a lodging location for Link to sleep, as the absence of the Old Man after clearing the Great Plateau makes his bed available. The bed itself is not free while the Old Man is present.
