The 65, square foot hotel, restaurant, and bar became a gathering place for visitors and local families alike. Over the years, the hotel housed Indy sponsors and country music celebrities. Time and various economic setbacks led to the eventual decline of the inn. Although it survived many hardships and a dedicated staff kept it in operation, it became dated and in need of repairs and renovation. In May of , the Brown County Inn was sold to its current owners and a top to bottom renovation was begun. The exterior was painted and the roof repairs completed. New equipment was purchased for the pool and it was painted. Town Hall and the restaurant were given new flooring, paint, and lighting. All 99 rooms at the inn are in the process of a complete restoration including all new furniture, paint, carpet and linens. Many of the changes were made with the environment in mind.
