Proposals for buckley residents group and a retail unit on land at Spon Green in Buckley were received by planning chiefs last week, prompting concerns from residents and councillors alike. A group set up to oppose the scheme, chaired by Buckley resident John Woolley, met in February during a consultation phase run by the applicant Skye Homes Flintshire Ltd. The next thing we will do is get our facts about why we think it is not suitable. According to the site, of the homes will have two bedrooms, will have three bedrooms and the remaining 51 homes will have four bedrooms, buckley residents group.

MEMBERS of a community social media page have teamed up with local churches to launch an emergency response team amid the coronavirus crisis. Gill Jones and Carla Tellett, administrators of the Buckley Residents Group on Facebook, are collaborating with several churches in the town to provide the service and co-ordinate the community response to the crisis. The scheme sees local volunteers contact representatives of the Facebook group and the churches to offer their services, be it by collecting and delivering prescriptions or shopping for the elderly and vulnerable - many of whom are currently self-isolating amid coronavirus concerns. Explaining the scheme, Gill said: "We have about 7, people on the Buckley Residents Group - so it's a brilliant opportunity to organise a large scale community response to the crisis. The scheme - which has been vetted by the Flintshire Local Voluntary Council - will see prearranged volunteers show documents of identification upon arrival at the homes they are assigned to help. A list of church contacts are available for people to contact if they would like to get involved.

Work has begun to build 12 new much-needed council rented homes on the former site of 51 empty council garages in Buckley Close, Hangleton. We appreciate the work is causing some inconvenience. Please be assured the council and our contractors, Morgan Sindall, are doing all we can to keep disruption to a minimum. We will be updating this page regularly with information for residents about what's going on. We're expecting work on the site to be completed in Spring We marked out temporary road markings in August These are part of a temporary traffic regulation order to make sure the area remains accessible and safe for residents and site deliveries. We have been placing cones out to keep areas clear for cars to turn at the top of the road until the yellow lines are marked. Other contractors such as UK Power Networks have put out cones to mark areas where they need to work. Please do not park in these areas as it will block access for other residents and cause delays to the work. Colleagues at Cityclean have sent a smaller refuse truck to clear outstanding collections. The development is part of our New Homes for Neighbourhoods programme , building much-needed new rented council homes on council-owned land in the city.

A TEAM which was set up to help vulnerable residents through lockdown is to gear down its activities as restrictions continue to ease. Since setting up, the team has recruited over volunteers and received more than calls for help with a range of different matters including shopping, prescriptions and many others. The project has now announced it is to "scale back" its operations but Gill Jones, administrator of the Buckley Residents Group on Facebook, said it is "ready" should another lockdown situation occur in the future.

On Wednesday, Flintshire Council's planning committee will decide on an application for the continued siting of a portable building the theatre uses as its changing room facility. Despite it having been situated next to the theatre for the last 13 years, Flintshire Council's planning officers have recommended the application be refused.
