The Canadian Air and Space Conservancy formerly the Toronto Aerospace Museum and the Canadian Air and Space Museum was an aviation museum that was located in Toronto , Ontario , featuring artifacts, exhibits and stories illustrating a century of Canadian aviation heritage and achievements. The museum was located in a hangar that once housed the original de Havilland Canada aircraft manufacturing building, but in September the museum and all of the other tenants in the building were evicted by the landlord, the Crown Corporation, PDP Downsview Park. The site was slated for redevelopment as a new sports centre but after closing the museum the development was placed on hold. The museum is developing a new location and its collections are currently not available for public viewing. On September 20, , after the order to vacate the premises, the museum's collection was transferred to forty-four, foot freight containers and stored in a parking lot on the Greater Toronto Airports Authority GTAA property in Toronto. When it was active the institution was largely run by volunteers and had the goal of educating visitors on the Canadian aerospace industry and technology. In November it was announced that the museum would reopen at Edenvale Airport , km northwest of Toronto, near Edenvale, Ontario , in and be renamed the Canadian Air and Space Conservancy. The museum was housed in what was the original factory for the de Havilland Aircraft of Canada. It is the oldest surviving aircraft factory building in Canada. Originally named the Toronto Aerospace Museum , the museum was re-launched under its new name, the Canadian Air and Space Museum , on February 20, About one year after the successful rebranding and launch in Downsview the National Museum in Ottawa moved its space artifacts from the Science Museum to the National Aviation Museum and rebranded itself as the Canada Aviation and Space Museum which led to considerable confusion since Ottawa also adopted the acronym CASM. At that time the Downsview museum had plans to further renovate the premises to better house their large exhibits and to provide more detailed information for visitors and school programs. Plans included specific galleries to house the full-sized Avro Arrow replica, another for the Avro Lancaster and additional galleries dedicated to the history of the de Havilland aircraft company, Canadian achievements in space, including a theatre and planetarium.

The BCAM was awarded custody of the disassembled aircraft in the late summer of All parking revenues will be invested in the museum to support programming. Visitors are asked to respect barriers and exercise care when photographing or filming.

These included the National Aviation Museum at Uplands , which concentrated on early aviation and bush flying; the Canadian War Museum collection, which concentrated on military aircraft, and which included many war trophies, some dating back to World War One, and the RCAF Museum which focused on those aircraft operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force. In the collection was renamed the National Aviation Museum and in the collection was moved to a new experimental type triangular hangar from the Second World War-era wooden hangars it had been residing in. In an additional hangar was opened, which allows all of the collection's aircraft to be stored indoors. The museum closed 2 September for remodeling and rearrangement of the aircraft on display. This project was completed and the museum reopened 19 November The changes made include making space for a new exhibition entitled Canadian Wings: A Remarkable Century of Flight that was unveiled on 23 February , the centennial of the first heavier than air aircraft flight in Canada.
