The one exception is the TL flash unit. It was designed for the old Canon T90 camera, and its more advanced features such as its versions of FEL and second-curtain sync are not supported by EOS cameras. Only the EX series flash units or a couple 3rd-party clones can operate in auto mode on the EOS camera bodies. So, I guess that might be good for fill flash? The one exception is the TL flash unit.
