Moeen Ali played a blinder earlier in the day, however, CSK lost wickets in a cluster and that didn't allow Moeen to play freely after the powerplay. He had to slow down a bit due to the fall of wickets at the other end, and CSK finished with a mediocre total at the halfway stage. The Royals lost Buttler early in the run chase, but the knocks by Jaiswal and Ashwin proved to be enough as they got over the line eventually. That's all we've got from this game. We'll be back with another match tomorrow as the Delhi Capitals take on Mumbai Indians. If Delhi win, they are through to the playoffs, if they lose, RCB will make it through. See you tomorrow, same time, same place. For now, this is Nikhil signing off on behalf of Akshay, Hariprasad and Siva. Ravichandran Ashwin Player of the Match: Feels like a million dollars. It was important that we won the game tonight. That's quite a good finish to the group stage games. The communication was pretty clear before the tournament. I had to work on a lot of stuff. The team management was clear with my position. I know what my role is.

Sandeep Sharma survives a classic last-over Dhoni assault, nailing three successive yorkers at the death. Another thrilling finish, but the Chepauk crowd has been denied a fairy-tale Dhoni finish on a special day. However, to see Jadeja and Dhoni take it as close as they did deserves a pat on the back, just as a token of appreciation for how consistently they've done it in the last decade, and have essentially mastered the art of chasing! After a staggering collapse ailed the CSK middle-order, sense prevailed with the experienced batting pair of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, who played out the spinners to take the game deep. With two overs of pace remaining, Jadeja hammered 19 runs off the 19th over, before MS Dhoni sent Chepauk into a frenzy with a stunning assault on Sandeep Sharma, bringing it down from 19 off 5 to 7 off 3. However, Sandeep Sharma held his nerve and nailed three yorkers to save the Royals from haemorrhaging enough runs to lose this encounter. Conway and Rahane continued to lay the platform but found it difficult to pile on the pressure, struggling to regularly find the boundary.

Jaiswal drives it to mid off. And with this victory, they have also snatched the all-important second spot off of Lucknow's hands. Ali gets on the top of the bounce and punches it through covers for a boundary. If we had lost another wicket at that point, we wouldn't have even got anything to defend. Jagadeesan ends up chipping it to the left of Riyan Parag at mid off and he takes a dolly of a catch. It's not an easy thing but it is good. Jaiswal steps down the track and lofts it with the turn, all the way over the long on fence for a biggie. What a ball that. Ali looks to cut but gets a thick outside edge that is well short of the short third man fielder. Royals bowler wonders why the ball was replaced during CSK's innings of the "umpire's accord", and calls for decisions to be "standard" through the tournament. The umpire's finger is up in a flash and Dube does not review.
