Directed by Academy Award winner Bill Condonwho made his Broadway directorial debut with the production, the musical officially opened Nov. Despite enthusiastic reviews from critics, the musical closed Jan. The track album, which is already selling strong in pre-sales, will be available in-stores and digitally Feb. The album features new material, as well as songs cut from the come look at the freaks staging that were later incorporated into the recent Broadway production.

The green room of The Belmont Theatre on August 21st, would have been a sight familiar to any actor who can recall the day their show closed. The cast and crew was gathered in a tight circle, clutching hands as the stage manager, Judi Miller, called places for the final time. Her announcement brought forth an eruption of cheers, a sound that mixed with the bittersweet feeling that had overcome us all at the thought of bringing our production of Side Show to life one last time. We gathered around the backstage microphone and waited in a heavy yet contented silence as the pre-recorded announcer introduced our show to the audience. There was a generous amount of applause from the crowd, and the orchestra plucked out the first few eerie notes of "Come Look at the Freaks. We had been putting off the inevitable for as long as we were able, but we could no longer deny the fact that this show would be our last. Throughout the performance, there were several moments that touched us as a cast more than they ever had. Side Show on a normal day is filled to the brim with emotional punches, but that night, they hit us with more profound meaning.

With sensitivity and sparkle, Artistic Director Michael Weber tells the musical tale of two women who were mistreated and deplorably exploited for their unusual physical deformity. In a new musical opened on Broadway. The show was nominated for several Tony Awards but went home empty-handed. As a result, the musical closed after only 91 performances. The production went on to play a limited run at the Kennedy Center and finally opened on Broadway during the Fall of Despite positive reviews, this much improved revival only lasted for seven weeks. Playgoers come to understand the loneliness and frustration within the other performance characters, as well. They take the audience on their roller coaster emotional journey, from the sordid world of the Freak Show, with flashbacks to their abusive past, toward the present, filled with hope and romance, and on toward a future laced with success and promise. All three gentlemen are equally impressive in their roles.
