Properties that can't have a grey bin due to access or storage restrictions mainly in town centre areas , will receive a fortnightly rubbish collection using sacks. Households need to supply their own rubbish sacks for this service.

Proposals say that people can 'choose to opt out. It means people will instead have to dispose of their garden waste elsewhere with some slamming the idea as 'terrible.

Coventry City Council halted blue-lidded collections after trade union Unite announced a three-month long strike. The city council then brought in Tom White Waste to focus on household waste collections and have now confirmed they will empty recycling too. There were talks previously which claimed the bin strike would continue until summer and Unite has confirmed that its members have voted for this to be the case.

Recycling collections are set to restart next week in Coventry despite ongoing strikes by bin workers. An all-out strike has been staged in the city since 31 January by about 75 bin lorry drivers in a stand-off with the council over pay. Residents currently only have household waste collected every two weeks. Garden waste collections should also restart from the middle of April, the council's director of street scene said. Andrew Walster said the local authority was still finalising details on both schemes and expected to have a "couple of weeks of bedding in" with the recycling collections.
