Our first cruise over the Christmas holiday! This was our 19 th voyage with Cunard, so it is obvious we like the line a lot. Every cruise line has a personality. Formal nights, fine dining and attentive service ticks all the right boxes for us. This was the first year we skipped the Christmas party and decorating the house activities and set sail for the holidays. How did the trip measure up?

Lots of new staff with attitudes and 3 star service. Rooms are outdated and in desperate need of a renovation. Stains on carpets and drapes. Bathroom still has a musty curtain and room temperature can not be fixed as they were here twice. The staff questions everything. Read More. We wanted to do something different for the holidays but after being a bit disappointed by the high passenger loads and reduced staffing and services on some recent cruises, our expectations were a bit muted. Also we were not enthused about flying during such a busy time of year. This was my 5th on QM2 over the last 10 years. This trip was PG. I'm a spa relaxer type cruiser. The spa, now run by Morell was, frankly, filthy. The showers dirty, foot baths and ice maker inoperable, main steam room dirty and Finnish Sauna unlit. I was literally shocked.
The onshore jewelry shop promotions.
We have enjoyed many cruises. The Queen Mary 2 was by far the best yet. It's an ocean liner, not a cruise ship, which meant the "ride" was so smooth it was hard to tell we were at sea for most of our 3 week voyage. Even in high seas and gale force 10 winds, we found it easy to move around and hardly noticed the motion. The ship provides outstanding service in every department.
Our 4th transatlantic voyage on the QM2 over a year period. Possibly our last. Overall service is a little less attentive. Food the entire week was dissappointing, as was the entertainment. Read full review. Great cruise through Eastern Canada and New England by messer The ship's company was able to help us get things that worked well for us and made the week enjoyable. Though you could see the waves and feel the winds, the ship rocked lightly. We are already talking about doing this itinerary again someday. Relaxing transatlantic cruise vacations by montana

We review the ship A sense of anticipation crackles round the ship as everyone puts on their finest monochrome eveningwear, and I soon start to see why Cunard attracts such a loyal body of fans.

QM2 a lovely ship but needs a little tlc to spruce it up in places. We were barely out of our cabin before she was in changing the towels and making the bed. After our planned cruise in April was cancelled a few hours before sailing, we were delighted this cruise happened to allow us to - belatedly - celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. The table settings were spectacular. There's still just the one daily captain's announcement at noon, which provides an update on the ship's progress. However, the Christmas and New Year gala diners had spectacular selections. Our assigned check in time was pm. Nice bars. There was an onboard promotion for a chain of jewelry stores with a presence in the different ports. There were no excursions so I have given it a "medium" rating. See all photos. Room service. She was always cheerful. Our transatlantic crossing sailed at capacity, yet the ship felt as spacious as ever. Passengers who sailed transatlantic the week previous told a different story, but I think they sailed through a Force 10, which is beyond Gale and into Storm category. Staff Attentiveness: Cunard has high standards. However, the Christmas and New Year gala diners had spectacular selections. Use of the spa. Hundreds of adults and children attended. One evening in the Britannia Restaurant we ordered the beetroot salad, which arrived with a few tiny cubes of beetroot hidden below a handful of mixed green leaves.
