Nephilim are something that I always thought were an incredible idea, and as I toil through my second play of Diablo III, I thought I would take the time to share some thoughts on the Nephilim and Diablo's storyline. No spoilers. Nephalem Diablo III spelling , or Nephilim as they are called in the Bible, are the offspring of the "sons of God" and the "daughters of men" as quoted in Genesis.

Pursuing the Lord of Terror, the Nephalem finally defeated him in the High Heavens , preventing the Prime Evil from destroying the angelic civilization and the Crystal Arch. After the defeat of Diablo , the Nephalem entered the lands east of Westmarch to search for Adria. In Westmarch, the Nephalem encountered Lorath Nahr , a Horadrim member sent by Tyrael, who told them of the Reapers ' attack on the city. The Nephalem then took the fight to the Reapers and managed to save the remaining survivors in time. Afterwards, the Nephalem entered the Blood Marsh in pursuit of Adria. After a long intense battle, the Nephalem eventually defeated Malthael. Now feared by angels and demons alike, [12] the Nephalem turned attention to the remaining servants of chaos on Sanctuary, [13] protecting those in need.

When you open a Rift, the Obelisk will transform into a portal leading to the first floor of the Rift. Each Rift is a randomly generated dungeon with 1 to 10 floors populated by vast amounts of monsters. Once it's defeated, players can speak to Orek next to the obelisk in any town to complete the Nephalem Rift event. Doing so will award you small amount of Gold and experience and start a 30s countdown. When this countdown reaches 0 the Nephalem Rift closes. All players in the Rift are teleported back to town and Nephalem Obelisk can be interacted with again.
