This Dark Matter review contains spoilers. As a result, the season 3 finale felt a bit unfulfilled despite its overall excitement and enjoyable action. Ryo got the closest to achieving a full story arc in season 3, and it was wonderful to see him acting more like Four again. His demeanor, his stance, his meditative state, and his facial expressions seemed more Four-like, even as he insisted that Two carry out the execution voted on by the Raza crew. The fall of the House of Ishida brought perhaps only a temporary conclusion to his rule as emperor, a situation that could evolve in future seasons, but his rise and fall felt complete… much moreso than some of the other storylines. The eleventh hour assistance from Teku and his Zairon loyalist ships was a great way to bring the Raza crew together with their former mate, and the battle outside the Project Phoenix shipyards was visually quite spectacular as well.

Two is still pointing her gun at Ryo, and he's ready to die. He basically tells her to do it and she's ready to. Or is she? We don't get to find out though because a call from Teku interrupts. Teku apparently has a whole fleet of ships loyal to Ryo that managed to make it out of the coup without dying and he's demanding the return of his emperor. The Raza isn't so interested in giving him back. Of course, Teku isn't one to come to a negotiation empty handed. He offers them Boone's location, which could also lead them to Portia. They agree not to kill Ryo long enough to check out the location. Five continues to struggle with the news Ryo dumped on her back on Zairon. She confides in Six that her sister's adoptive mother is none other than Alicia Reynaud, the woman who had all her friends killed over the Blink Drive. Two is also dealing with the fallout of Ryo's truth bombs. Android got into the lock box and found a storage device that's password protected. When they finally reach their destination they discover a Ferrous Corp shipyard identical to the one they thought they were going to find back in episode five, only this one is full of ships. This is bad news for the galaxy.

If you ever thought that this series lacked in the way of massive space battles, then Dark Matter Season 3 Episode 13 almost definitely made up for it with the huge dust-up at the end. All that being said, I can't help but feel that "Nowhere to Go" seemed almost hastily written, with events happening because they were required to happen for the plot to progress. In a move that likely surprised no one, Two did not kill Ryo despite the many, many reasons to do so. Nor did she consider dumping him at the nearest GA facility and let them deal with him. Teku was lucky he called when he did, or else Two wouldn't have vacillated long enough. Though Ryo clearly had plot armor on his side.
