Compared to dark souls 1. So i just beat dark souls again and finally platinized it. And it clicked, the main reason ds2 falls flat. I've always known the world design in ds2 was bad but i never pinpointed why it sucked. But after my billionth play through I finally got it.

Entire sections of the game are an unmemorable, transient blur to me, either because I only saw them once and then perpetually warped past them, or because they were so short and simple that they never left any impressions to begin with.
