As purveyors of the original and unexpected, each Decus project is informed by a philosophy that interiors can significantly and positively impact our everyday lives.

Boldly aiming to reinterpret the interior design landscape, Decus Interiors is undertaking in a continual evolution of their own style, engaging in an experimental process to created elevated, immersive experiences. Inspired by a sense of discovery and exploration, Decus Interiors is driven by an innate sense of creativity mixed with a grounding world view. We love the beauty in layering and the nuances of textures and materiality. These elements convey great richness to a space. As a multidisciplinary team comprising architecture, interiors and an in-house procurement manager, Decus Interiors is able to engage in the full service works of projects. Having an in-house architect allows for further diversity in our portfolio, in keeping with our holistic vision. With a global mindset, Decus takes abounding inspiration from abroad and fuses this through a creative reinterpretation locally. While ensuring context and an Australian approach are carefully intertwined into each project, for Alexandra, it is about creating a sense of balance. All pushing the boundaries to create their own design language that was natural, beautiful and human. I also admire Italian design, seamlessly marrying materiality and restraint with the right amount of detailing and textured finishes. There is something seductive with contrasting shapes and form. I find it incredibly balanced and effortless.

The team have placed emphasis on natural light and a layering of materials and in doing so, reconnected the home with its surrounds, decus interiors.

Decus Interiors steer clear of the typical beachside home aesthetic in their Coastal Home, lifting design cues from surrounding native Australian flora and an extensive collection of Australian artwork. On a long stretch of scenic coastline in Western Australia lies Coastal Home; a heritage beach house with a three-storey addition and pool cabana. Entrusted with the redesign of the existing home and the new build, Decus Interiors have successfully merged the old and contemporary through a warm and sophisticated approach to family living. Stainless steel appliances from Wolf enhance the robustness of the chocolate kitchen cabinetry , setting the tone for a similar interplay of traditional and modern interiors that follow. Alexandra says she built depth through layering, working with the bones of the original heritage house by integrating warm, rich and inviting colours in the study and kitchen. The dining room is located in the new addition , with natural light streaming through full-height windows. Steel frame doors offer access to the sizable pool and entertaining area , featuring an integrated barbecue, outdoor dining setting, outdoor living area and outdoor fireplace. Inside, the Extrasoft Sofa by Piero Lissoni for Living Divani featuring bold cushions custom-designed by Decus Interiors injects colour and personality into the neutral space. In the formal living room, Indigenous Australian artwork and Missoni accessories come together in a colourful feast for the eyes.

Alexandra Donohoe Church creates elevated, inviting homes punctuated by exceptional pieces of art and furniture. September 12, Alexandra Donohoe Church was barely a teenager when she began to avidly peruse the furniture catalogues that filled up the mailbox of her family home in Seattle, where her Australian parents had relocated when she was seven. Despite this clear portent of a career in interior design, Donohoe Church began a degree program in landscape architecture after finishing high school in Sydney, to which the family had returned when she was It was a full-fledged love affair. In , Donohoe Church started her own business, working alone from her apartment. It was a nerve-racking time, she says. She began with small projects and collaborations, gradually picking up bigger commissions — and the staff to handle them.
