Ran support assist app to check for updates, get current bios, etc. Notice the service tag it reported was NOT the service tag of the machine. Weird… i tell you, just weird. The faulty tag does come back to the same model, but still i wonder if the config is different, could it jack up the system. Have you checked the BIOS to confirm it matches? It could be someone put the wrong board in it. Normally when you first turn on a Dell with a brand new system board refurbed or new it makes you add the Service Tag, so maybe someone fat fingered it or had one fail during testing and swapped it out buuuuut forgot to swap back or update the tag. I have seen it happen and you have to argue the point with Dell unless you have a rep and copies of your purchase etc to back you up. This will tell you the true Service Tag of the MB.
