On my recent visit to Pune,my host served misal pav and I said that it was just difference between usal and misal sev- usal of Gujarat, to which she said that usal and misal were two different dishes and she couldn't tell the difference!! Difference between usal and misal

It can be served as breakfast dish as a snack and also as a full meal. Misal is known for its high spice content. Dahi Misal is another type of misal where beaten yogurt is topped on the misal before serving. There is a difference between Usal and Misal. Usal is a curried dish made with sprouted legumes or mixed sprouts. The main ingredient is Goda Masala that gives authentic taste to the Usal. Goda masala is the base for most Maharashtrian dishes. Goda masala is spiced powder , which is made of whole garam masala spices and dried coconut.
