As its name suggests, Dodongo's Cavern is home to Dodongos and other lizard-like beasts. Dodongo's Cavern is found about halfway up the Death Mountain Trail , however, upon Link 's arrival it is blocked by a boulder. Large quantities of Bomb Flowers grow inside the cavern due to its favorably dark and muggy environment. Spoiler warning : Plot or ending details follow. For a long time, Dodongo's Cavern served as a quarry and was the primary source of food - minerals and rocks - for the Gorons. However, greedily seeking the Goron's Ruby , the Spiritual Stone of Fire, the Gerudo mystic, Ganondorf , sealed the entrance with a boulder in an attempt to weaken the Gorons and blackmail them to gain control of the stone. That, along with King Dodongo stationed there as additional hindrance, the Gorons were deprived of sustenance and their leader, Darunia , went into solitude, taking with him the Spiritual Stone.

Dodongos cavern

The entrance to Dodongo's Cavern is currently blocked by a large boulder. After leaving Goron City, go to the right and you will find a bomb flower next to a Goron. Pick up the bomb flower and toss it over the fence toward the large boulder below. If you threw it the right way, it will destroy the boulder. If it doesn't work the first time, keep trying until it does. Run down the mountain and enter the newly opened cave. Once inside, you have one more wall to break with a bomb flower before you are in the cavern. If Link comes in contact with any fire it will destroy his Deku Shield, so now would be a good time to equip the Hylian Shield, if you have one. Heed Navi's warning about avoiding the lava. This first, primary cavern features a main central platform that can be reached by way of the surrounding fluctuating platforms.

Pick up a bomb flower from either side of the room and throw it at the cracked wall. Jump to the center platform, grab the bomb from the bomb flower, turn left and jump to the pillar, then to the walkway on the left side of the room. Throw the bomb at the blocked doorway to the right to reveal an alcove with a treasure chest.

Dodongos cavern

Make your way over to Kakariko Village and climb up to the top of the area.
