Yuujirou works as a highly-paid freelance mercenary and assassin for various governments and organizations. He desires his son Baki to become strong like him, so he can enjoy a challenging fight with him as if Baki is a toy to him.
Doppo tells him that he still hasn't forgotten the scars, which are a reminder of their former struggle. He will also kill for pleasure or satisfaction when he feels like it. He then crushes them with his muscles.
Emi is still alive with Yujiro Hanma. Her husband, a yakuza, was angered by her infatuation of Yujiro and hit her, but he had his neck broken by Yujiro. She loved him and vowed to raise Baki to be a warrior like Yujiro. Over time, her love becomes obsession and she never acts lovingly toward her son. Yujiro wasn't satisfied with Baki's skills however and left her, leaving Emi with hatred towards Baki. When Baki and Yujiro fought, Emi looked on as Baki was beaten into the ground, seemingly dead. Suddenly she snapped and risked her life to save Baki.

As previously mentioned, the fight between Baki and Yujiro is inevitable in the narrative about those two characters. He is clearly based on John Lawrence Sullivan because he describes himself as a bare-knuckle boxing champion with only one loss on his record, and he has a very similar appearance to Sullivan. Strydum makes the remark to Baki that Doppo's attacks are meant for humans, with the Ogre being something inhumanely powerful. Markson encountered Oliva while he was doing his usual side job, and Oliva destroyed every part of his body, "barely within a limit of not killing a human" according to Markson, leaving him in a hideously disfigured shape. He serves as tournament medic as the matches go on and tried to stop Jack Hammer from using any steroids only to be beaten by him. However, his pride and desire for ultimate strength could be considered potential vulnerabilities. During the conversation, the Ogre learns that Baki defeated Gaia , the master of the battlefield.
