At the time the fee was implemented, the company cited the "small fee" was necessary due to inflation that has increased the prices of fuel and food — especially cheese which is of course a staple ingredient for pizza. The company implemented the fee initially to ensure Domino's food delivery remained "efficient and sustainable" amidst the national economic crisis. The dropped delivery fee is a small win for Australians looking to save money on their next takeaway meal or pizza party. Domino's isn't the only food chain to implement a service delivery fee however, much to the upset of customers.
