At Alana, we understand that when you have gynaecological concerns you are looking for a compassionate, understanding and informative approach to your issues — basically the best gynaecological care possible. We have both female and male gynaecologists whose expertise in gynaecological issues is recognised both here in Sydney and around the world, with many of our practitioners having advanced qualifications in their specialty area — be it surgery, physiotherapy or complementary and alternative medicine, all to provide the best of treatment for you. Any gynaecological problem may be managed in a variety of ways. Our practitioners will discuss your concerns and what you want from your care. We offer tailored medical management for a range of gynaecological problems such as endometriosis , fibroids also called myomas or leiomyomas , infertility and pelvic pain. Medical management may include analgesia pain control , physiotherapy , or drug therapy and the best approach for you will be dependent on your clinical symptoms, signs and personal choices. While most gynaecological issues are not life-threatening, this does not mean they are not life-altering. Excessively heavy periods may decrease your iron levels making you anaemic, painful conditions such as adenomyosis or pelvic floor myalgia may substantially impact on your day-to-day activities or relationships, and even concerns over contraception — if you are not wanting to have a pregnancy — may all contribute to a decreased quality of life in your situation. You may need a Cervical Screening Test, or a colposcopy following an abnormal result.
