While most gynaecological issues are not life-threatening, this does not mean they are not life-altering. Excessively heavy periods may decrease your iron levels making you anaemic, painful conditions such as adenomyosis or pelvic floor myalgia may substantially impact on your day-to-day activities or relationships, and even concerns over contraception — if you are not wanting to have a pregnancy — may all contribute to a decreased quality of life in your situation. You may need a Cervical Screening Test, or a colposcopy following an abnormal result.
