Dragonslayer's Grotto was once a fortress located northwest of Downwarrenin the Crookback Bog area of Velen and now lies in ruins, dragonslayer grotto.

This page contains the locations and crafting requirements of the Griffin Witcher Gear found in The Witcher 3. The Griffin Witcher Gear is the first real set that can be encountered when playing. The basic diagrams are all located in The Velen region. Being a complete set of witcher gear it can be upgraded in enhanced, superior and finally mastercrafted versions. The set contains both a silver and steel sword, as well as medium armor for the chest, gauntlets, boots, and trousers. These pieces of Witcher Gear can also be upgraded once the diagrams for their superior versions are found. The quest to find them can be started at any of the three locations they are found: The lighthouse of Lornruk, the Hindhold watchtower, and the Dragonslayer's Grotto cave. The diagram for the Griffin Silver Sword is located in the abandoned lighthouse of Lornruk, located on the far Northwestern tip of Velen. The drawbridge to the tiny island has been raised, and a level 14 Wyvern guards the lighthouse. Try to lure it away from the island and take it down with crossbow bolts and use of the Aard sign, then carefully climb down the rocky slope to the shore, then cross to the Quen Place of Power.

This section is for finding the base standard gear, while the rest are divided into upgrade quests. You can start this quest by either finding one of the locations of the diagrams and reading the related documents found with them, or by buying one of the treasure maps available, as all of them will point to starting at Dragonslayer's Grotto. The easiest maps to obtain early on are the first and second from Midcopse 's armorer. This diagram is found at Hindhold and one of the easiest locations to get to early on in the game. Here you'll find the area is guarded by endrega workers and warriors , so kill them off as you make your way up to the top, where a harpy 's nest is.

Pretty sure the wall and symbol you're talking about just need that the wall is breakable using Aard or by swinging your weapon at it, I've gotten past it and there's a poison gas filled tunnel leading to a level 11 monster, can't read it's name right but it looks like Ekinmara to me, and it owned me no matter what only level 4 lol.
