Located in downtown Schenectady, this contemporary 18, square foot facility, housed in an existing building at the Belanger Campus on Erie Boulevard, provides a flexible and collaborative environment for both students and faculty. With six classrooms that accommodate a variety of assembly sizes for lectures, computerized classes, and interactive mock labs, this facility provides a learning environment seating 10 to 96 students in a given classroom. The interactive mock lab is equipped with patient beds, service delivery headwall systems, and lighting similar to those found at most hospitals enabling students to get pragmatic hands on training. The composition of both the student and faculty spaces enables a learning environment which is dynamic, enlivening, and interactive. Under this program, students prepare for professional registered nurse licensure by enrolling in biological and social science courses at the College, and in nursing courses at the School of Nursing. Graduates of this program have historically ranked very high on the New York State licensing examination. Courses chosen must be comparable in content and credit to the required college courses in the curriculum. Persons interested in enrolling in the School of Nursing may complete any of the college courses before enrollment and receive advanced curriculum credit if the criteria for advanced credit are met. All course requirements for the first year must have satisfactory completion before progression to the second year.
