They report power only via Bluetooth. That way they use Thread to talk to each other, eve energy home assistant. I then unpair them one by one from Homekit through the Eve app and consequently they will pop up in Home Assistant.

Remember SkyConnect is ZigBee. Eve Energy is Bluetooth. So you have to have Bluetooth on the Hardware which runs Home Assistant. I am using a Raspberry Pi 3b which has bluetooth. I installed the beta firmware to my Eve Energy Outlet.

Matter, the promised home automation wiz kid, is here and some devices are now shipping with native Matter support. But what if you want Home Assistant and Apple Homekit to control the same matter device? No problem! This post will show you exactly how to provision the Eve Energy smart plug to Apple Homekit, then pair it to Home Assistant. The public Matter spec was released in November , and just now are devices shipping with Matter firmware. Eve is one of the first to market manufacturers to sell devices that ship in the box with Matter firmware. Matter is entirely software, and has absolutely nothing to do with physical data transmission protocols like Thread, WiFi or Zigbee. It is an application layer protocol. However, Matter can leverage select physical transmission protocols: ethernet, WiFi, Thread, and Bluetooth. Notice the lack of Zigbee and Z-wave. Matter lets a device talk to Apple, Google, Amazon and other smart hubs without needing to be specifically certified for each ecosystem, and multiple ecosystems can simultaneously control a matter device. So a manufacturer like Eve can just certify a device to the Matter spec, and skip the Apple, Google, and Amazon certifications or software stacks. It should just work with all of them out of the box. If you lose the Matter QR code, you now have a paper weight smart device.

Eve Energy Matter not show consumption and cost. But there are no sensors for consumption and costs like my Bosch one. No response.

I am struggling to get my Eve products integrated in Home Assistant. There are multiple posts on this subject, but most are up to a few years old already. Are your Eve devices using Thread? All your listed devices are Thread capable I think. Are you using a HomePod mini? If they are already within Apple HomeKit then you need to create a virtual equivalent device in HA linked via HomeBridge and then use an automation in HomeKit to link the two devices when events happen. Then HA will track the or control the Eve changes. I guess we could access state, switch control and power consumption when Matter arrives to Eve and Home Assistant, as they all announced their future compatibility. Could the Home Assistant HomeKit integration be extended to do the same? I also cannot add Eve Energy products to HA.

In addition to controlling whatever device is plugged into it, an Eve Energy smart plug can act as a Thread border router, forming a bridge between your Thread network and your primary home network and from there to the internet. And it does it for a whole lot less money than an iPod mini. On the other hand, it only works with HomeKit. A compact, HomeKit-compatible smart plug with plenty of automation options along with robust energy-monitoring features, Eve Energy might be pricier than its competitors, but it comes with an ace up its sleeve: support for Thread, an exciting wireless protocol that will—eventually— work hand-in-hand with Matter , the new smart home platform that promises to finally teach Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit to play nice with each other. Eve Energy checks most of the most important boxes when it comes with energy-monitoring smart plugs, but because it only works with HomeKit for now, anyway , Android users will need to look elsewhere. The same is true for anyone who depends on Alexa or Google Assistant for smart home control. Measuring roughly 2. Eve Energy is rated to deliver 15 amps and 1, watts, which makes it suitable for lights, fans, humidifiers, and similar small appliances.

I am confused though: cheap Google mini nest smart speakers can be used as matter controller but they do not have Thread border router features. Eve used a custom solution. Reply to Ryfe. For the Eve sensor it was at the same 5 minutes available though after removing it I've had bad luck adding it back. I am using a Raspberry Pi 3b which has bluetooth. Quick question, how do you connect the Eve Energy to Home Assistant? Maybe someday vendors will push towards full interop like you get with WiFi. Schlichi83 Schlichi83 November 22, , pm It most certainly will NOT. Any help appreciated. I have no problems to connect them. But I am completely new to Home Assistant.

So yesterday I got on the Matter pilot with Eve Energy for my smart plug to test it out.

Sign in. When the Matter spec is updated to support energy monitoring, I strongly suspect Eve will release a firmware update. Since Matter 1. No intention to hijack anything. Stumbled upon this topic. This is up to Apple, and is not related to Thread 1. Own a couple of Eve Energies thread enabled and really appreciate the power measurement function. However, the initial instinct of using the physical QR code in both ecosystems will not work, by design. Luckily when re-pairing devices they mostly retained their names. As far as I understand things and I could be wrong , Matter 1. There are multiple versions of Thread, and as May , very little interop between various ecosystems that have Thread radios. I am unsure about how it works. Interestingly, I only had to add the entry: net. Notifications Fork Multi-Controller Matter Pairing.
