F-Droid is an app store for Android devices.

You can download the application directly from our site or browse it in the repo. Core F-Droid functionality is split into re-usable libraries to make using F-Droid technology in your own projects as easy as possible. More information about libraries. We hold weekly dev meetings on fdroid-dev on Thursdays at h UTC, which usually last half an hour. Because a regular Android app cannot act as a package manager on its own.

You can download apps from the F-Droid repository, and F-Droid will help you keep them updated. When you download and use apps from the Google Play Store, Google collects a great deal of data about you. This includes information about your device, how you use the app, where you use the app location data , and more. All of which is tied to your real identity and combined with other information Google collects on you from its many other apps, services, and trackers,. Additionally, many apps on the Google Play Store incorporate third-party tracking libraries or software development kits SDKs. These tracking mechanisms allow app developers and third-party companies to collect information about your behavior, interests, and usage patterns across different apps and websites.

F-Droid is an open-source app store and software repository for Android , serving a similar function to the Google Play store. The main repository, hosted by the project, contains only free and open source apps. Applications can be browsed, downloaded and installed from the F-Droid website or client app without the need to register for an account. The website also offers the source code of applications it hosts, as well as the software running the F-Droid server, allowing anyone to set up their own app repository. F-Droid was founded by Ciaran Gultnieks in The client was forked from Aptoide 's source code.

Please note that this document just tries to help users getting kick-started, but not an official endorsement of any products, vendors, etc. Mind: Side-loading F-Droid has some limitations.
