There comes a time when things break down and need replacing. Well instead of tossing the washing machine that failed after many years of use, I decided to turn it into a fire pit.

A recycled washing machine drum makes a clever and contained campfire firepit. On an all-girls semi-wild camping trip with one of my best friends and our daughters in we stayed on a fantastic campsite on the edge of nowhere, Hill Fort Tipis in Pembrokeshire. For the next 3 years I positively willed our poor washing machine to break down and finally it has, after 15 long and over-worked years. After all that drudgery it deserved a reincarnation.
