Slotted above the Expedition in the Ford model line, the Excursion was sold nearly exclusively in the American market; limited numbers of the model line were produced for export. A single generation of the model line was produced; after , a short model year was marketed for Mexico. Throughout its production run, the Excursion was assembled at its Kentucky Truck Plant Louisville, Kentucky alongside the Ford Super Duty line; the final example was produced on September 30, As a central part of the redesign, a fourth passenger door was added, allowing the model line to compete directly against the similar-size International Harvester Travelall wagon for the first time. Following the discontinuation of the Travelall, the Suburban became the only wagon-style full-size SUV a distinction it would hold until the introduction of the Expedition , competing primarily against the smaller Jeep Wagoneer. Sharing the most popular body style of its predecessor, the Bronco was produced as a three-door wagon with a lift-off hardtop; in line with the Ramcharger, no four-door version was developed as a competitor for the Suburban sharing its bodywork with crew-cab pickup trucks. Meet the Ford Excursion that comes from a very special nation, imagination. It was sketched out by innov8designlab and shared on social media just a few hours ago, and it looks ready to take on some steep slopes and slippery trails, as long as it can fit. Its gargantuan size, since it hypothetically builds on the Super Duty , just like the real thing back in the day, would give it an extremely spacious interior, with tons of leg- and headroom, and a ginormous cargo area. Steel bumpers at both ends, finished in the same shade of blue as the rest of the exterior, are other highlights of this digital build, which also has tons of ground clearance courtesy of the new suspension. As for that imposing face, it came directly from the Super Duty, albeit with a few adjustments. There are plenty of folks out there in the world that would happily line up for a brand-new Excursion, if Ford ever thought about building another one. I started with the cleanest Excursion I could find to build. Found a one-owner 6. It already had an EGR delete and airbags with an onboard compressor. It was to replace the second and third row seats so that the OP could have shoulder strap seat belts in all three rows. Next up was some suspension work, which also had some purpose behind it. Ended up buying new coil buckets and radius arm mounts as those were riveted on the donor truck. I also had a shop put these on. A big thanks to NicMike for helping me through the process. Decided to go with a conversion.

The third Ford SUV derived from the F-Series pickup trucks after the Ford Bronco and the Ford Expedition , the model line used a heavier-duty chassis and frame than the Expedition; both vehicles competed against the Chevrolet Suburban. The model line was produced for a single generation; a shortened model year was offered exclusively for Mexico.
