The second free practice session in Saudi Arabia proved positive for Fernando Alonso. The start of practice was delayed ten minutes due to yet another problem with a driver cover. The session also went on for ten minutes longer than planned. The first 15 minutes of the second practice session saw many drivers get in each others way. Lewis Hamilton ended the opening day of action at the Bahrain Grand Prix on top after setting the fastest lap in the second free practice hour, leading team mate George Russell in a Mercedes one-two.
