I got my undergrad degrees at Pensacola Christian College and, despite its rampant conservatism, it was a huge factor in my eventual transition to a broader worldview than my insular family. Maybe this will do the same for them. I hope so! Honestly, even if they decide to accept all of their family's beliefs, at least the two of them will have been honestly exposed to peers who have different beliefs while having legitimate Christian backgrounds. The total Maxwell rebellion has been pretty mild by general terms - but Joseph buying a house that likely has a mortgage, Jesse's sale of his house and living in an apartment, and Anna and Mary going to college are all huge statements of independent thinking for a family that really frowns on that. I have no idea! Mary and Anna appeared on the Dean's List last year when they were doing online classes. I suspect that was what caused a really random announcement in the middle of an otherwise mindless blog post that the Maxwells had decided to join a church family due to COVID since ABC requires all students to be members of a public church. I'm happy for them - and that's weird because the degrees they are working on are pretty worthless. Like 9 out of 10 of the degrees are limited to interest to men who want to become pastors.

The former reality star opens up about the online fan campaign during her days on 19 Kids and Counting in her new book, Becoming Free Indeed. The book, co-written by Corey Williams, is not a tell-all about Jinger's reality TV-famous family, but an exploration of her conservative upbringing and faith journey in recent years. However, she does includes some details from her childhood, including recalling her amusement at the "Free Jinger" online campaign, started by fans who had convinced themselves that Jinger was unhappy growing up in her ultra-conservative family. Jinger told ET's Nischelle Turner, however, that at the time, she couldn't understand why viewers of her family's reality show thought she wanted to escape. For Jinger, Becoming Free Indeed is not about liberating herself from Christianity or even conservative values. In the book, however, she details the work she's done to "disentangle" herself from her upbringing under the Institute in Basic Life Principles and disgraced pastor Bill Gothard.

I remember one where Sarah grabbed a camera and took random photos of whatever the family was doing, and other that Sarah who used to use the bus as a quiet writing space it seemed like everybody else was together with other family members in spite of doing unrelated work. Back to getting up to date on the Maxwells now.
