We are Jane and Mike, a thrifty money saving couple who moved to France, renovated a derelict house and are in the process of turning an abandoned two-acre plot into a garden. We live on one income and budget sensibly to live the best life we can. Our home in the beautiful village of Huelgoat which surrounds a lake and is itself surrounded by the forest. Our home is situated in what was once a quarry and later on a wood mill. The tumble-down mill is still in our garden and we hope to save it as a useful barn as soon as we can. I rang it and here we are now.

It's disappeared. I heard something about her being trolled but no details. I've been reading Froogs for years, I'd miss her if she was gone! Why did she get online abuse though, it's puzzling. I wouldn't have thought her blog was particularly controversial. What a pity. Her blog helped me get on top of my finances a couple of years ago, it was great. Felt like I knew her, "DB" and their dogs! There was a thread on Moneysavingexpert asking where FQ had gone and that got zapped as it got quite nasty - I read it at the start but don't see how ended. Personally, I got bored of the blog. Admittedly, I only started reading it after she had cleared most of her debt, but just before she bought the house in France.

Sorry to hear that, she had a core of loyal readers. I hope she rethinks and is aware of all the people out there that she is helping and will be back soon. The dear reader stuff grated and I did at times find her patronizing and a little competitive. I do sympathise with not wanting to deal with trolls. Sadly I seem to have missed Frugal Queen's blog.

Back in February, my husband asked me what I thought about moving to France, and I had an immediate answer for him: as long as I can bring my craft supplies. For three years, we had been trying to figure out where we wanted to move because our forever home had stopped feeling like our forever home.

I just found this thread through Google while looking for her blog. It was her writings too that made me realise that I don't have to do the full Xmas thing and run myself ragged every year.
