However, there was a brief time when his cosmic role switched from Devourer to Lifebringer in an Ultimates storyline by Al Ewing and Kenneth Rocafort. He gained his cosmic power by merging with an entity known as the Sentience of the Universe, allowing him to survive the death of his world. Since his motives are usually beyond spite, ego or general evil, Galactus is a wild card that could threaten the Earth at any given moment.
