Game console display shelf

We have created this rack specially for the sake of users with multiple non-portable gaming consoles. When you place your gaming consoles vertically, depending on where you put them, there might be a risk of them falling over.

For all of us gamers we understand that organization and display can be a bit of a handful at times. My goal was to create a console gaming shelf that displays my favourite and most used consoles, with LED lights! I didn't include my valence cuts as I found them around the house. The pine lattice I used for trimming off the front of my unit with mitred cuts will require a mitre saw to cut 45 degree angles for the corners. I can't remember the purchase measurements of the backerboard but if you cut it in 3 equal lengths, you will get that inch gap you see in the pictures to run wires and provide more than adequate ventilation for your consoles. The backerboard, amazingly, was the exact length of my final measurements for this console shelf. I would like this instructable to be as detailed as possible.

Hello everyone, I am Bren! I recently started using some building plans from myoutdoorplans. I decided to use this as a loose plan to go by and here are the steps I followed to complete my project. I had to decide on the dimensions and material to use for the unit. With respect to building material I would have to use pine mainly due to its affordability. I did find a good compromise. The building material stores sell pine panels which are smaller pieces of pine joined together which are straighter than the wider pine boards. You need to pick through them because they can split at the ends but if the store has a large supply you can easily find enough for your project. For the dimensions I did a few spreadsheet scenarios and finally settled on something that suited my needs. There were a number of things to consider when designing the unit, including the width of the wood being used, trying to use factory length boards to reduce the number of cuts and ensuring all systems could be accommodated. The final layout was slightly different than my plan but not far off. Of course you need to check the lengths just to be sure and sand the edges, but all these panels seem to be very consistent in their length. I checked and sanded five of these for the horizontal shelves. See all my Premium Plans in the Shop.

Unfortunately I did not write down the measurements for the biscuit joints. You will require a biscuit jointer machine at this point, one that can make face cuts directly on flat wood see picture of rough cuts that I made above. The reason I posted the rough cuts picture is I don't have actual images of the cuts I made in the shelf and to remind you, it's always best to make test cuts if it means the final cuts you make are going to be absolutely perfect.

My goal was to create a console gaming shelf that displays my favourite and most used consoles, with LED lights! Allow sufficient drying time as you will need to use painters tape to mask off the valences and the insides of the shelves to avoid painting them black. As you can see, the masking is complete. This is highly important with MDF! Introduction: Console Gaming Shelf. I figured two wood screws would hold the dividers in place since they were only providing separation and once the unit was full of systems the dividers would be flush to the shelves from the weight above. I drilled four holes in each side of the underside of each shelf. Allowing you to paint easily, without worry. My plan of attack was:. I took a trip to Home Depot and purchased the following: 1.

.

Also you need good disposable rubber gloves because this operation gets very messy. The stain was also a bit of a tricky proposition for a beginner like me. If you don't allow sufficient dry time, the painters tape will peel of your paint. With the fixed feet, you can place it securely in your ideal spot. There is more than enough storage space across the 4 shelves. Unfortunately I did not write down the measurements for the biscuit joints. Note: You will see penciled lines on the outside of the unit, this is where I drew lines to know where my biscuits joints would go, this will make your life much easier. This allows power strips and HDMI selectors to be easily fixed to them with zip ties. Make sure all extra glue is removed before applying the stain, the stain will not cover up the glue, it just makes it look worse. This will help the paint adhere to the primer. As i've said, running the wires will be a job in itself but well worth it.
