This year, the theme of the 45th Poinsettia Show is the 12 Days of Christmas, where an astounding 20, poinsettias will be the true stars of their beloved annual event. Regardless of theme, about five months goes into the making of each show, beginning with generating ideas and brainstorming to the installing about 10 different scenes that visitors will wind their way through on their visit. Installation typically begins mid-October and continues through the start of the show, which runs noon until 8 p. Anna Glick first started helping with the creativity behind the show in when she was in high school. The multiple scenes created each year have always served as a backdrop to the poinsettias that get their moment to be showcased. The upcycling of everyday items is an underlying theme within the decor of the show. Last year, if you looked closely, you would have seen that the gigantic snowflakes hanging from the ceiling were made using white clothing hangers, and that the snowmen were made using pots they had lying around the greenhouse. This year, Anna is making 12 drums out of buckets that are on hand at the greenhouse for the upkeep of plants that will go back to their original use after the show.
